Freight House

A railway station often needs a
freight house. In a Finnish hobby magazine Pienoismalli there
was instructions for a large freight house in issue 6/2004. It
is too big for my layout, so I modified it smaller and made it
also more simple to build. The style and colors are similar to
the main building.

The platform is made of Evergreen
sheet 4080 in size 278mmx110mm.

Under the platform there is a basement
made of 5mmx20mm balsastrip. To the sides are 2x3mm balsasticks
glued about 5mm spacing. On top of these sticksis a 2x8mm strip
gued, on which the concrete feet are then glued.

The concrete feet are made of 8x8mm
balsa wood. The height of the feet are selected so, that the platform
surface is in same level with the freight car doors. With Märklin
K-tracks the height is about 15mm. The feet are painted with a
mixture of grey paint and Darwi-modelling paste.

The both ends of the basement is
painted with same mixture, but with a little more darker grey
color.

The total length of the roof is
285mm without vergeboards. The vergeboards are made of 0,5x2,5mm
plastic strip with 1,6x1,6 L-profile.

On the other side there is similar
platform for delivery cars. The doors are still missing.
