HOT CHILLI CHOCOLATE
When, as a child, I first tried this recipe, I accidentally used chilli seasoning consisting of several spices instead of regular powdered chilli.
Although most certainly not to everyone's liking, I think the spice mixture gives the cocoa a more interesting, complex flavour than plain chilli :-)
200 ml milk
2 tbsp cocoa powder
¼ tsp chilli powder or chilli seasoning
honey to taste
Sieve together the cocoa and the chilli powder (or chilli seasoning).
Heat up the milk in a saucepan and gradually whisk in the cocoa mixture. Whisking continually, heat the mixture without letting it boil.
Sweeten the cocoa with honey and mix until honey has dissolved.
Pour the hot drink in a mug or tea glass and serve immediately.
Top the drink with whipped cream flavoured with honey, dark molasses or maple syrup. Sprinkle some cocoa or chilli powder on top.
